Two Upcoming Activities in HKAN

Contemporary nursing takes place in the midst of an environment characterized by increasing healthcare choices, rising expectations, constrained resources, and increasing complexity of health care delivery. Furthermore, with increasing advances in biomedical and clinical research providing unprecedented insights into health promotion and disease prevention, nurses face the challenge of having to utilize findings of well designed research studies and translate them effectively into everyday practice.
Hong Kong Academy of Nursing (HKAN) and Hong Kong College of Education and Research in Nursing (HKCERN) are pleased to open up 10 lectures in the “Pre-Ordinary Membership Training” to nurses who are interested to acquire foundation knowledge in Evidence-Based Nursing Practice.
Date of Training: February 2 - 23, 2023 (4 Thursdays, 7-9 pm)
March 9 - April 6, 2023 (5 Thursdays 7-9 pm)
April 15, 2023 ( Saturday 3-5 pm)
Mode of Training: Hybrid mode Classroom (venue TBC) or Zoom
Tuition Fee: HK$ 200 per lecture (2-hour session) 50% tuition fee can be reimbursed for HKCERN members after you have received the attendance certificate issued by HKAN indicating how many lectures you have attended
April 15 session is free for participants who has enrolled in any one lecture or more from Feb 2 - Apr 6, 2023

(2) Pre-Membership Foundation Education Program: Module 2 Evidence-Based Nursing Practice Workshop (with assessment)

Background:

Furthermore, with increasing advances in biomedical and clinical research providing unprecedented insights into health promotion and disease prevention, nurses face the challenge of having to utilize findings of well designed research studies and translate them effectively into everyday practice.
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to
• Understand the basic concepts of quantitative and qualitative research;
• Identify clinical issues or problems requiring evidence-based practice;
• Identify potential innovations for improving patient outcomes or quality of care;
• Develop evidence-based practice guidelines or protocols;
• Critically appraise the evidence in order to determine its certainty and applicability;
• Assessing the implementation potential of an evidence-based innovation;
• Implement the evidence-based nursing practice in clinical settings.
Date of Training: February 2 to April 15, 2023 (total 22 hours)
Mode of Training: Combination of Classroom (venue TBC) and Zoom
Suggested Enrolment Criteria : (a) Bachelor degree in nursing, and
(b) 3 years post-registration working experience
Tuition Fee: HK$ 2,000
